FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the images Ai or Photoshopped? The images are NOT Ai or Photoshopped onto backgrounds. All images are taken in real snow in mountain settings. The sky you see is the sky that was there when the photo was taken. The images are only edited in Photoshop for things like lightening, cropping, removing noise or a small leaf, sharpening an edge, etc.
What is the difference between luster and cotton rag photo papers? Luster photo paper and cotton rag paper differ primarily in their composition, surface texture, and intended use. Luster paper is a photographic paper with a semi-gloss finish, offering a balance between gloss and matte, while cotton rag paper is a fine art paper made from cotton fibers known for its archival quality and textured surface. Cotton rag prints are more expensive because the paper is pricier and they use much more ink to print because they absorb the inks unlike luster paper where the ink sits on the surface.
Will my image fade overtime? All images are printed using professional grade archival pigment inks. Art should never be hung in sunlight and should always be framed using glazing with UV protection even if it is not indirect sunlight.
Is the Cabin Fever Series printed as one image? I do take commissions for anyone looking for an original piece but otherwise, yes, there are 600 -1,200+ images digitally combined by hand to create these designs. In some of the designs, a few small images will appear right side up and upside down in order to create the patterns.
Do you offer mats for the framed images? I did a lot of testing and went with a wide white border instead. Photography with snow is tricky. If the mat is not the correct white, the snow will look grey or yellow. I have so many images, I leave any mats up to you.. If you prefer a smaller border, please contact us for a custom order before placing your online order. If you intend to float mount the image like I do in the 12x12 white frame pieces, I can resize the border to a .75 inch boarder.
Can these images be ordered on other products? All images are property of Hooey Mountain and are copyright protected. A few of the images are offered as a wallpaper ( or wrap) and I would consider additional images on a case by case basis. Contact me to start the conversation.
Why do some images come in different sizes? Different cameras produce different aspect ratios and resolutions. Also, some images have been cropped, so the aspect ratios on the prints vary or they can not be blown up as large.
Do you offer custom sizing? Yes. This is a great option if you have an amazing existing frame you want to recycle. Minimal additional charges may apply for custom work. However, some images are limited on how they can be cropped without loosing an important element of the image. Contact us to see how we can help you.
What info do you have on the standard black metal frames? See framing information
Can I get frames in different colors? Contact us if you wish to get a different color metal or wood frame and we may be able to help you with custom framing. See above.
Are the colors on my computer the same ones on the print? Images on different computer monitors can vary slightly from what the image you receive will look like. We do our best to show a true representation of what the image will look like in your home. We work hard to make sure the snow is white and the colors pop.
How long will it take to receive my art? Things can get a little crazy between running a business, shooting new images and developing new images you will love. Please allow up to 7-9 business days for your print order to be shipped out. Standard metal framed prints take approximately 21 days or more to be shipped. The 12x12 framed images take 7-9 business days to ship. Custom framing quotes take 2-3 days. During ski season, it will take longer to get orders out, as I'm often away from the studio. Once U.S. orders are shipped, they should arrive within 4-7 business days. For international orders, please expect your print to arrive anywhere between 2-4 weeks. These estimates are based on times provided by our carriers. We are not responsible for delivery or customs delays. For more detailed information on framing, and shipping, see our footer pages.
How will my prints arrive? Smaller prints will be shipped by a flat mailer. Larger prints will be shipped in a tube. Anything shipped in a tube is wrapped around an inner tube with acid free glassine paper between prints. This then gets bubble wrapped and placed into a plastic bag and then inserted into a larger heavy tube to ensure it arrives safely. As temped as you are to open the tube, I recommend opening it the framer so your print is pristine when they receive it, especially if you have pets that shed.
Do you accept returns? Most photos are not held in inventory. They are printed when you place an order, therefore we are not able to accept returns or exchanges of prints, framed art or at this time. For all other products we do our best to describe exactly what you are getting, so there should be no surprises when it arrives. Contact us with further questions on our return policy.
What if my art arrives damaged? We do our best to package your art so that it arrives safe and sound. However, occasionally things do happen, and we deal with this on a case by case basis. Our shipping partners require any damage to be reported within 7 days of receiving the art; so please make sure to open your package as soon as you receive it. Please keep all original packaging and the art; as we may require photos and possibly the art returned to process your claim.
